(ROCHESTER) – Congratulations are in order for the family of Frederick Douglass, including Ken Morris. Last year, legislation was passed to rename the airport in honor of the noted abolitionist and Ambassador to Haiti who rose to international acclaim from the bonds of slavery.
Morris is the co-founder and president of the Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives. Further, he is the great-great-great-grandson of Frederick Douglass and the great-great- grandson of Booker T. Washington. He is reviving the critical work of his ancestors in the key leadership role at FDFI. He continues a family legacy in anti-slavery, education and antiracism while helping to craft and implement innovative programming to address these persistent issues still facing communities today.
So, if you are in Rochester, New York – be sure to stop by The Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport and give a wave in recognition of Frederick Douglass!
