News

(MASSACHUSETTS) – The new year provides an opportunity to reflect on the previous year and to make plans to resolve new goals in New Year 2021. One of the goals, some people even call them resolutions, is to learn more about themselves through ancestry searches. Hidden facts about their culture, past demographics and legacy is a curiosity.

One of the ancestral legacies that people of African ancestry have is a particular curiosity about is their Native American heritage. Dr. Esther Pearson, a researcher, scientist and historian has spent over 20 years discovering her native heritage, her “Black and Red Roots”, amending her birth certificate and now helping other people of African descent learn about their ties to Native American tribes and communities. These years spent in research have resulted in two books, Black Red Roots and the Mathematics of Blood Quantum, as well as, many topical articles and writings on social injustice.

Dr. Pearson is announcing the development of a comprehensive course, “Native American History and Culture”. This course is provided online and is self-paced with guided instruction. The course objectives include: 1. Defining Native American leadership models; 2. Differentiation between diverse cultural and main-stream life; 3. Understanding and learning Native American tribal languages; 4. Identifying Native American Clans, Bands, Tribes and Nation’s sovereign governments; 5. Understanding systems of Native Environmental beliefs; 6. Identifying Native American clothing; 7. Identifying Native American diet; 8. Identifying Native American health concerns; 9. Understanding Native American Systems of Social Justice and Ethics; and 10. Identifying Native American historic geographical lands and treaties.

These objectives provide the framework for the next steps of personal research to discover your Native American tribal affiliation, personal and spirit name, and DNA compositions. Dr. Pearson can direct you in these next steps or leave them up to you after you complete her “Native American History and Culture” class. If it is your goal and challenge to be “woke” in year 2021 or to finally learn what you have been curious about your whole life based on family rumored Native American ancestry, contact Dr. Pearson for class details at drempearson@gmail.com or call her at 978-257-5725.
