(MARYLAND) – Joe Gaskins, the Co-Chair of the Maryland Business-Clergy Partnership, recently posted his support for Wes Moore on Facebook. The irony is that he was initially a supporter of Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot’s bid to be the next Governor of Maryland. What happened?
Gaskins has been involved in business, community, and politics in the Prince George’s County area for years. He is respected throughout Maryland. For him to alter his decision on whom to support for governor in next year’s election is simply fascinating. Does this show that Comptroller Franchot may have some trouble from the newcomer in Maryland politics and nationally-recognized son of Baltimore Wes Moore? Could this signal trouble in the frontrunner’s campaign – particularly among African Americans in the wealthiest Black jurisdiction in the nation?
